hellboy torso

doing a quick sketch, one of the first times I started with different references. I usually don't use reference as I feel it restrains creativity, I don't know If I'll continue to do so, but this was a fun little diversion. and no. This was not supposed to be Ron Pearlman. This was my take on Hell boy. I combined ron and Jeremy Roberts' take on him.

timeline

Haven't been on lately, sorry..... but I have been making youtube videos!  I know its silly.  So we will do this chronologically.

Most recently hellboy bust:

This was done to relax from fixing a horrible mistake I made on this:

which was done in correction to an even earlier model (not pictured to horrible) done at 3 AM to relax from editing this:

which was done after modeling this:

Cant Sleep So I post

Cant sleep. Too much coffee tonight,  Had a day out with the girlfriend, got little else done, but it was worth it, So I sat down and did a quick sculpt, about 45 min, wanted to play with the idea of a more organic feeling object.

ZBrushCentral - Demon's Forge-Character Art

ZBrushCentral - Demon's Forge-Character Art

Sometimes as a character artist you come across work that just screams mastery, mastery that comes from an actual art school. Its stuff like this that makes me wonder what potentially I could be doing now, if I had an actual professor to guide me...

okay I lied

A new model and a finishing piece for an older one

so updating my thesis, left me with little time to do much else unfortunately, But this past hour I cranked out a simple model and finished another.

The new model is a cartoony aging swimmer:

And To cap of the tutorial on the actual model itself, I finished the base model of the dwarf which I wasn't happy with until now. I don't know how long this friggin tutorial is going to be, but now im onto rendering and props..haha

Lobsterman base shading

I decided in celebration of a new Air Conditioner (installed by yours truly...with help)  I would begin to shade the lobster man, and I recorded it as well.

I'll be putting that together along with the dwarf tutorial, maybe have a few going at the same time, I enjoy working on different projects though, it keeps me busy and yet entertained.

Dwarf Shader update

Put the Mental Ray fast Skin Shader on him (the previous images were enhanced with photoshop using Match color), and tweaked in to work with the leather as well. It was two hours of general tweaking and frustration but considering, I think Its going in the right direction, though I didn't record this session knowingly that I was experimenting, and didn't have a direction, when I do record it will appear much much smoother :P
